The sewage pipeline in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has failed. In recent months, a large amount of sewage has leaked, enough to fill 320 Olympic standard swimming pools!
Since December 2019, about 800000 cubic meters of sewage has flowed into several residential areas and nearby rivers and lakes in the southeastern coastal city of Fort Lauderdale, causing the most serious sewage leakage in southern Florida, local media reported.
According to the information of Florida environmental protection department, in December 2019, the amount of leaked sewage was about 480000 cubic meters, mainly due to the aging of sewage pipes and six times of rupture; from January 30 to February 8, 2020, about 20000 cubic meters of sewage flooded a block near a local shopping center. To make matters worse, the main of Fort Lauderdale's water supply has been damaged many times in recent weeks, and the local government has prompted residents to boil the water before using it for brushing their teeth, washing dishes or drinking.
